Zinc/CopyCad Plating combo Pot-Metal & Sheet-Metal
Posted by admin on September 2nd, 2010 at 02:47am
I have a number of unique gear-clamps (radiator hose clamps) that have a
"hinged" pot-metal head on the steel strap. (British "TEX Grip-Tite" brand).
The Pot-Metal Heads have a steel "screw gear" in them.
These gear-clamps need replating (original plate was Cad which I’d like to
replicate), but I’ve heard that the Zinc Plating Bath will dissolve or otherwise
damage the pot-metal.
Any suggestions, recommendations on how-to go about plating these pieces?
