Thin Cathode

I found a piece of Aluminum siding that I trimmed up to fit into my ano tank to use as my cathode, I cleaned and sanded it to remove the coating on both sides. It is REALLY thin though, is there any problem with that? Or should I find some thicker stuff that I know exactly what alloy it is? Lead would be ideal but hard to find around here
