Stripping anodized clearcoat off ali wheels? HELP!
Posted by admin on March 17th, 2009 at 08:23pm
Ive tried to strip the clearcoat anodized off of aluminum wheels with Jasco or anyother paint stripper, No luck there. Ive also tried Easy off "oven cleaner" it works but it seems to be too much work. I have to spray it on my peice let it sit for a good while (it’ll dry up) then I just sand it away. It seems to take up too much time and too much work. Id like to know if theres a faster way. Ive read in here for a few pages and read about this "LYE" product that I can get at hardware stores. However, I noticed that you guys use a ratio with lye and water in a bucket, problem is, I dont have a bucket big enough. Not only that but I only want to strip the clear off of the lips of the rims not the face.
So my question is, is there anything else out there that I could buy that will be pretty easy to use? or is there another way to use the lye with my situation? and what would my steps be? I dont want to deal with pitting and what not. Just want to strip and polish, thats all. COMPLETLY noob at this and would like a step by step prosses from you guru’s.
Please, Im pressed against time with these wheels hehe
Any info is MUCH appriciated!
