Protecting the bore of a barrel

When you go to anno a paintball barrel, how do you protect the factory bore? I heard on a two piece you can plug it. ( I’m assuming using cork or something) How would you protect the one piece when it has porting a 1/3 of the barrel? Thanks for the help.
