Power Supply –> Ano Tank question

Hi guys, was reading up on all the great information here since I’m new and had a question myself.
I recently purchased my power supply (30V/30A Mastech). The seller said for anodizing that I should add in a diode from the positive terminal on the power supply to the part to ensure that electricity flows properly and will not reverse flow and damage the power supply. Is he right? Or would simply connecting positive end to the part and negative end to the cathode be enough?
