Pearlescent finish on steel

Hi all, does anyone know how this finish would be acheived
Scotty Cameron – Archive Detail
I believe it is a black nickel plate dipped/quenched in a pearlescent oil.
How could this be repeated if at all?
The plating is not an issue, its the pearlescent finish i am intriugued by.
Thanks
