Need help in determining gold content

I am a Computer Sciences person, who was living happily in Canada and working for a hospital now I ended up in China and Hong Kong with my fiance, and have been put into an operations manager role for a PCB factory ( Panyu Vicent P.C.B. FACTORY LTD ) – I have an issue and I need help from experts who know this stuff.
My problem is theft, there are staff in our plating department who will deposit an item or two into the gold electroplating tank and leave it there for a period of time, thus allowing it to absorb / plate with the gold, then retrieve the item. There are measures to check the tank and clean it etc, however, I need to ask if there is a way to test the gold tank solution to measure for deviation in the gold content. My background is not industrial or plating related but do know some chem and some electrical – thus I was thinking of testing the solution for voltage or resistance changes, but not sure if this will yield a solution.
For example, test the replenished gold tank solution, measure how say 9V of current flow throw it. Then dillute it with 50% distilled water, measure again, and use that as a baseline. But not sure if this will work or not?
I need to figure out a way to do an inhouse test of the gold solution in under 1 hour to quickly check if someone has been pilfering or plating their own stuff and stealing the gold.
Super thanks in advance!
Shawn
