My oven out of an oven thread.

Well I’ve posted here a little over the last year or so and have been powder coating for just as long. I’ve been powder coating out of a home oven.

Most of my powdercoating is done on Vintage Honda Mini-bike parts as I have a small company that does restorations and salvage. I’ve been powder coating all of my own small parts and taking the larger parts to the local coater. He is very reasonable but the turn around time is very slow and some times the work just isn’t up to par. I need to be able to do my own frames etc. when I need them done.

I’m not trying to re-invent the wheel here or build an overly complex oven. My idea is fairly simple. I have an extra home oven in the gagage and tonight I gutted it and labled all the wiring. I’m wanting to basicly put this ovens internals and controls on a 4×4x6 box that I fab up. I was going to gut a fridge but I’m thinking it would actually be easier to just fab up my own.

I really only have 1 concern right now but I’m sure you guys have some more. I’m not sure if the size of the burners in the current oven and possibly need more powerfull ones? any ideas or suggestions? I probably spent 3 hours or so today alone and found a few other guys who built similar ovens and it seems like they just used the burners out of the home oven in the larger built oven.
