Model Submarines

You may have noticed we sell model submarines and wonder why. It’s simply because my father was a Chief Petty Officer on them operating out of Malta and Ceylon, against the Japanese. After the war, the boats were moved to Malta. I was about 3 years old when I was first taken about a submarine in Valletta harbor, and I guess I caught the bug. Just a few years ago, I decided I wanted a model of my dad’s submarine, so I set about buying and assembling one.

Talk about a challenge, almost to a man, the vendors were little help, and I struggled through the project. Radio control, ballast tanks, buoyancy concerns, and a whole host of things I had to learn, made this quite the challenge. Eventually, I hooked up with David Merriman and as I had a really good web page, staff and warehouse, I suggested he let me handle his marketing. So, here we are a few years later, with the biggest submarine inventory, more information, videos and technical documents than anything out there.

Our latest product is a little kit of torpedoes and launchers, quite the engineering feat, if I may say so. Its been years coming, but I think its worth it.

Submarines have become my hobby and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it, so I’d like to invite you to join in and become a model submariner too.
