Ideas on expanding my polishing business

I’m sure since the economy went to hell it has made it hard for most of us to keep afloat. I’ve never really done any advertising. For the most part I’ve just bought parts off of eBay, polished them and put them back up. Well, that worked pretty good for awhile but not at all anymore. For the most part I’d like to get local customers, but doesn’t really matter. Are their any good ways of advertising beside Craigslist??? Obviously there are plenty of ways, but it’s all about reaching the "right crowd". I haven’t done polishing for too long so does it just take awhile to get your name out there?? Any advice or suggestions would be great! I’m sure I’m not going to "Steel" your customers. I’m not asking for a "Get butt loads of customers fast" idea. Obviously there is no easy way of doing it.
