I let the smoke out

of our compressor motor starter. Anybody know if I need a whole new starter, or just the coil? And how I can prevent that from happening in the future? Should I use a bigger starter? This one was a Square-D NEMA size 2, rated for 10hp at 200V and 15hp at 230V. I thought these things had thermal overload protection? I guess they don’t so should I install some? Any pointers for that?
