Gold Plating musical instrument keys

Hello to anyone who can help me!

I want to gold plate the keys on my oboe (as well as the posts, rings etc.) and I am planning to purchase a gallon tank plating system, so I can do other projects as well.

My questions are as follows:

1.) Will the gold plating adhere to the silver plating that is already on the keys? Or will I have to plate before I plate?

2.) I would prefer ‘rose’ gold plating as opposed to ‘yellow’ gold plating. Is such a thing possible and how is this done?
