copper finish for fire pit

any suggestions for a finish that can hold up to the heat in fire pit
what i care about most is the 6" wide outermost ring, which of course gets super hot but it would be nice to hold up on the bottom as well but that is where its hottest of course. right now there is no grate on the bottom of the pit so the coals are right on the copper
in lieu of that, how about an exterior grade finish, some kind of clear that
just needs to be re-applied every so often?
its amazing how fast it oxidizes after the vinegar/lemon juice/salt cleaner, which btw works better than any of the commercial cleaners i’ve tried.
