Aeration supporters?

OK, after an hour reading threads on aeration v. agitation (from 2003 forward!), I’m still not sure what I can accomplish today.

Acidrain, are you still a fan of aeration? (Your comments were old.) In which case I can just go to Petsmart down the street and get an aquarium aerator today. Anyone really happy with theirs? If it works great I’ll stick with it.

For the longer term, agitation is the aim per sswee, I also like the quiet aspect since I work all hours on my driveway. On a 5 gallon tank I’d rather not go submersible, tank’s too small: can anyone with an impeller on a motor attest to that working well? Also waiting for a Little Giant bargain..
