I need a little help here, I started a long term project a while ago with Caswells Silverstone Metallic powder. Now that I’m getting around to finishing up some of the pieces I find out that it is no longer listed in the catalog. Does anyone have another source for this powder or at least a good match?

I am new to this forum and would like to draw on the base knowledge here.
I am having a intercooler radiator combo unit built for my supercharged Triumph and would like your opinion on anodizing it as I do not know if it is safe and I believe powder coating it will hurt some of the cooling properties.
below is pictures of the intercooler combo unit front and back they are a two piece unit.

Here is one of the bike I will be installing it on
next post is a picture of the bike I will be installing it on.
Thank you for your opinions

I have been powder coating for a few months now. A freind of mine brought over a peice that a freind of his had coated at another shop that has been coating for years. I noticed his part was smooth like glass. Mine always comes out a little wavey like say a new peice of leather. they look good but what do i need to do to get it smooth like glass? We both use tiger powder and this part was coated with bengal gloss black which i have used several times with waveyish results. I use a 100kv gema gun and cure to instruction at metal temp. i have a 4×4x6 electric oven. I do keep the gun turned all the way up, mabe the problem? Thanks for yalls help!! Love the site by the way!!

I’m looking to outsource my electroforming needs. The platers that I use don’t do sterling/fine silver electroforming (out of my wax models, or any other type for that matter) and I’m really at a loss to find someone who is knowledgable in doing this. I work another job beyond my jewelry designing and I could really use someone who works in this area already.
If I can’t find someone I may have to rework my current model for casting, and it’d be ridiculously heavy. So please, send me some references or other ideas!
Thank you!
Susan

Hi, ive only just found this place, and not a moment too soon!
Ive been doing some zinc plating, and to start with it seemed to go well but a little hit and miss at times.
More recently, the zinc plating seems to be coming out a matt whiteish finish.
If its rubbed hard or sanded with say some 1500 then it is nice and shiny so under the surface it seems ok.
On a couple of parts it flaked off and seemed to leave the parent metal in a gold/brassy color.
Any ideas???? Or am i going to fast?

I use them to get into tight / hard to get to corners prior to using a shaped felt bob with compound (in the areas that a mop cant get to)
I find the cratex better than cartridge rolls for this job.
Anyone else use them? Where do you get them from?
I always buy them from the states via e-bay but cant always get them as the guy who has the e-bay shop doesn’t always have them in.
Details of other suppliers would be great, if not, i would be interested to know what methods you use to get into the hard to reach corners / areas for mirror polishing,
regards,

Hi all, just thought i’d use my first post to say hi to all!
I have been meaning to register here for a while as i have browsed the pages a few times and wanted to be a part of the community.
I’m new to the forum but not to metal polishing, i have been polishing metal in my spare time as a hobby for a few years, just doing parts for myself and for friends on cars, bikes, custom stuff, ect, always learning and building my tools / skills as i have gone on.
It’s just metal polishing that i do at the moment, but looking into learning about other finishing methods in the near future, plating and powder coating in particular.
I’m interested to see what kind of techniques, materials, ect you guys use over in the U.S. and hope to build on my current knowledge, and maybe also give some help and advice in return.
Regards, Andrew

Hey guys,
I’m attempting to build a PC oven for small business use. I first attempted to find a toaster oven that would suit my needs, but came up with nothing. I’m going to go ahead and build my own out of most likely 22guage steel and 1/8" 1×1 angle iron. The overall size will be 24"w X 16"h X 18"d, and will have to work off of 110v. I’m having a bit of an issue with trying to find a heating element that will work with 110. I’m going to go ahead and order a 2 pole 40A contactor and 1/16 pid from Auber, but I can only seem to find 110v elements on ebay. I’ve read of you guys gutting toaster ovens for parts, but would the element from an standard toaster be able to heat an oven of this size to 450*? Any help would be much appreciated guys.

Who rinses after dye?
I found out when I rinse after dye A LOT of dye comes off into the rinse rather when I just go straight to the sealant.

I haven’t opened my CC bath in probably 6 months, opened it up this evening and found a bunch of something floating in the bath, the bath was sealed well. I stirred the bath up to see what would happen, in the process of stirring I felt something in the bottom of the bath, I fished out a piece of 12 awg copper about 9" long, obviously I must have dropped it in there. My questions are, what is the floating stuff and what can I do about it? Should I filter the bath and then add more brightener? I don’t remember if I should filter through coffee filters or a carbon filter.
How will the copper wire affect the bath, it’s been in there a good six months. Below is some pics of the stuff floating, you can see in the first pic there is a good amount of it floating on the surface, the second pic is of some of the stuff I spooned off the top.
