Is it possible to ano one part two times? I have an idea of a part I want make, and part of the finish is going to be two colors. The part is going to be round and knurled, I want the grooves of the knurling to be a differnet
color. I’m looking at machining the part, but drilling one mounting hole undersized, anoing black, then cutting the knurles, and boring out the undersized mounting hole (this will leave a nice contact area for the racking) and re anoing and dying the grooves a second
color. I’m not sure if the first
color (Black) will leach out into my acid, or if the acid will discolor the first
color.

i went to do some
polishing this morning with the die grinder, and the air hose kept twisting itself up. i’ve got industrial style QDs, so the tool is free to rotate independently of the hose. when i trigger the tool, the hose spins pretty hard. there’s no torque from the tool going to the hose. the hose is straight without any twists. i’ve got two 3" denim buffs stacked, which i’ve used on the same die grinder before without the hose twisting. it doesn’t happen with no tool or a small tool, just with this kinda large buff. line pressure is 100psi standby and 90-95psi triggered. anyone know the reason behind the hose twist?

Here are a few pictures of my finished oven. Just fired it today and it worked great. Still adding a few little details but i plan on using it this week. It has Dayton fan, 6 3500 watt burners, 4 inch insulation, galvanized sheet metal outside and cold rolled steel inside. It is 6×6x7. Even made it with tracks to roll in a rack. What do you think? (sorry for bragging just excited)

Caswell recommends their Zincate Pre-Treatment for
Aluminum (AL) parts prior to EN bath, which removes oxide as well as leaves a
coating of zinc on the AL, and they say in part, "As the part is lowered into the
plating tank, the zinc is etched away by the nickel solution." Yet, all I’ve read concerning zinc in the manual and on the forums says to avoid any zinc in the EN solution like the plague. Could someone explain this apparent contradiction, or am I not understanding what I read? For what it’s worth, the
Aluminum in question would be 6061 alloy, straight off the lathe.
Thank you kindly,
Gary

I got my Ford Blues mixed up. I am looking for Ford Corporate Blue in a powder. Here are some examples.
For the chart it is obviously the one labeled as such in the lower right.
The second picture is for Plasti-Kote 224 which is dang close.
I would just spray that then cover it with the PBTB diamond acrylic, but it the paint changes to a darker color if it goes over 250. It’s rated up to 550, but still it changes color.

Anyone out there recommend a good clear masking material? I’ve tried frisket film, but the two varieties that I’ve tried either leave a lot of residue behind, or don’t stick at all. I love the way green tape works, if I could find that adhesive with a clear face, things’d be perfect. Ohh, almost forgot, it’s got to cut easily too. For example, my hands shake way to much to pinstripe, so I had to cut the white out around the kanji, and spray. So I needed it clear to line things up, and it had to cut well. Wishing I had a plotter.
Clarification-one of the films that didn’t stick to base paint did stick to uro clear. I’m looking for one that sticks to base.
